A spring and winter recital are held each year.  Students of all levels prepare 2-3 memorized pieces to play in front of an audience composed of family members, friends and residents of a retirement home (they get free entertainment!).  I am a firm believer in the benefit of recitals.  Students learn the skill of memorizing music, gain confidence performing in front of an audience and grow from the entire experience of preparation, performance and post-performance, building their character.  And it is good for the student to see and hear other students perform.  I help the student pick recital pieces from their lesson repertoire that they enjoy, can play well and also stretches them a little. Parents of my music students are always delighted with the recitals.  As the photos show, I pair students in duets, and on piano, congas, sax and harmonica I accompany students performing their duet or solo piece.  The recital is a very rewarding experience for all concerned.

**UPDATE**  On 12/15 I held the 2nd virtual recital with a program including Christmas/Holiday tunes.  Three adult students performed:  two piano students from Tallahassee and a sax student from Miami Beach.  The audience watched from Tallahassee, Tampa and New York state.  I closed out the recital with two songs on the piano.  It went smoother than the first one and was a great success!
